Welcome on the AB Mechatronics page

What is Mechatronics?

Mechatronics is a an approach of the engineering conception that brings together ; Mechanical engineering, Electronic engineering, Computer Engineering and automation. The word « Mechatronics » has been introduced in 1969 in Japan by both engineers Etsuro Mori and Er. Jiveshwar Sharma of the Yaskawa compagny.

What are the benefits of a mechatronics approach?

A mechatronics engineer is generalist engineer who aims to think a product to be in his totality. His goal is to make every field working in perfect harmony and from the beginning of its design. We could classified the mechatronics products into four level of maturity

Level 0 : one of the four disciplines is missing

Level 1 : The four disciplines are there without a real integration

Level 2 : The four are strongly mixed

Level 3 : Complex systems in which every element interacts with each other. This kind of product has to be simulated.

Some examples of mechatronics products.

Typically, when we thing of mechatronics products, we think of : speed regulators for cars ; modern industrial and also domestic robots ; « intelligent » washing machine. Mechatronics is strongly present in many fields such as : aeronautics ; automobile industry ; medical industry (we talk about bio-mechatronics then) ; etc.
